Determine the water content, liquid limit, plastic limit, grain size from sieve and hydrometer analyses, falling head permeability, specific gravity, and the shear strength of clays from pocket penetrometer, Torvane, miniature vane, unconsolidated undrained triaxial compression and direct shear tests. Study the consolidation of clays and the compaction of clays and sands.
