Graduate students will be trained to think historically as well as theoretically about the emergence of the study of religion over the long nineteenth century and its role in the development of the university. Texts that remain relevant to the study of religion in the twenty-first century will be drawn from philosophy of religion, queer studies, critical race theories, feminist studies, affect theories, and environmental studies.
