INDS 502: PERSONAL NARRATIVE IN POETRY

This course examines the impulse to view poetry as autobiography. We’ll question what this says about our culture’s relationship to literature. We’ll discuss confessional poetry and a selection of poets who grapple with readers’ perception of autobiography in their poems, exposing students to problems and possibilities in personal narrative poetry.
