Scrooge, Sherlock, Elphaba, Dracula, Lizzie Bennet. Many of our favorite characters and our greatest stories exist in multiple incarnations across different media—books, films, cartoons, plays, games, theme parks, breakfast cereals. We will examine how stories change and use adaptation as a framework for studying story structure and genre.
