CLAS 208: THE FALL OF ROME

The course will consider the fall of Rome as an historical event and an historical topic. We will examine how, why, and even if the Roman empire fell in antiquity. We will also consider the historical narrative of Rome's fall, including in Gibbon's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.
