Continuation of KORE 142. Development of interactional competence in Korean (sociolinguistic and socio cultural knowledge) to communicate and interact with speakers of Korean. The course is based on a student-centered, critical-thinking approach to language analysis/acquisition. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for KORE 263 if student has credit for KORE 201/KORE 206.

This advanced Korean language course enhances students' conversational competence through the analysis of a wide variety of visual media, including films and webtoons, with a focus on authentic language use, pragmatics, and digital literacy. By exploring genres such as drama, comedy, action, thriller, romance, and historical works, students gain a nuanced understanding of language use in various social and communicative contexts.

The course delivers immersive training on the linguistic intricacies and cultural nuances of the Korean language specific to business contexts. This training ensures students can adeptly engage in both interactional and presentational forms of oral and written communication with Korean business professionals. To reinforce this training, the curriculum integrates practical role-playing exercises based on real-life business communication scenarios, which allows students meaningful exposure to and active participation in authentic professional exchanges within business settings.
