As an integral part of the department's apprenticeship program, this is a semester-long practicum through which a graduate student apprentices with a faculty member teaching an undergraduate course in order to be trained in all aspects of course design, lecturing, advising, and grading. Required of all graduate students. Graduate student teaching assistant will be evaluated by the faculty supervisor on all aspects of the teaching experience, including contributions to class discussion, attendance, student support, and grading. This seminar surveys approaches the study of art and visual culture from art history's origins as a discipline to the present day. We will study a range of works of art and interrogate many of the essential terms of art historical study. Frequent guest lectures will be featured.
