BIOE 446

Computational Modeling Lab

This course offers a hands-on application to quantitative modeling of biological systems with MATLAB. Students will learn to apply their numerical methods skills to get a quantitative understanding of phenomena in bioengineering and biology. Weekly tutorials will cover the background material and be followed by a computational lab where students complete programming assignments. The methods include ordinary differential equations, stochastic simulations, optimization and data fitting, and partial differential equations. Topics covered include drug pharmacokinetics, modeling of synthetic biology circuits, population dynamics and evolution, epidemiology, and electrophysiology.
