Undergraduate teaching in a biosciences laboratory course: provide group and individual guidance and instruction to students during scheduled laboratory sessions and outside of laboratory classes; participate in meetings with instructor and other TAs; assist instructor with lab prep; evaluate student learning and give feedback to instructor. Repeatable for Credit.

Synthesis, purification, and characterization of organic compounds, including identification of unknown organic molecules using spectroscopy. This course does not fulfill the organic chemistry lab requirement for the chemistry major. Enrollment in CHEM 215 requires either prior completion of CHEM 313 or 320, or concurrent enrollment in one of these courses.

Experiments illustrating techniques in synthetic organic chemistry, purification, and characterization of organic compounds using instrumental methods of analysis. Assignments include an emphasis on scientific writing. This course must be taken as the first advanced laboratory for the chemistry major. Enrollment in CHEM 365 requires either prior completion of CHEM 313 or 320, or concurrent enrollment in one of these courses.

Open to graduate students in chemistry and only in exceptional circumstances to undergraduates. Repeatable for Credit.

Students in NSCI 120 will solve client-based problems that require the discovery or application of scientific knowledge, specifically in the fields of biology and chemistry. Students will work in interdisciplinary teams and be involved in shaping their project and implementing the scientific method to find solutions. This course is limited to first-year students only.
