MECH 490
Independent investigation of a specific topic or problem in mechanical engineering. Research under the direction of a selected faculty member. Repeatable for Credit.
MECH 585
This course will provide the knowledge to analyze, design, select, and manufacture textiles, by covering materials and chemistries, structural design and mechanics, and manufacturing processes and physics. After completing this course students will have a fundamental understanding of fiber formation, yarn spinning, textile structuring, dyeing, and finishing processes related to applications in clothing, medical fabrics, structural composites, and more. Emerging trends will be introduced, including smart textiles. The course consists of lectures with several additional short demos and labs. Recommended Prerequisite(s): MECH 350 or equivalent, MECH 400 or equivalent, CHEM 211/CHEM 311 or equivalent Repeatable for Credit.
